Outreach to Mexico
Seven years ago, Saint Matthias Parish began an outreach to a small orphanage in Acuna, Mexico. That first year we ministered to 13 children and 2 house parents. Today, this ministry has grown into something much larger and much greater than we could have ever imagined. We now have two orphanages in Acuna, and between the two we have 41 children and 7 house parents. Wow what an increase, yet I can tell you that the more there is to provide for, the more the good Lord blesses us with. Thanks to the generosity of many, we have been able to meet the needs of these children year after year. So, whether you are a repeat helper or maybe this year will be your first time, welcome. Below are the children and the house parents who need our help this year. Our goal as always is to provide each person with a new set of cloths (shirt, pants, shoes, socks and underwear) as well as an age appropriate toy. The approximate cost of providing for a child is $60. If you would rather sponsor a child than actually shop for them, that support is much needed as well. We would be more than happy to do the shopping for you.
If you choose to adopt a child please email us so that we can mark your decision on this page. This prevents an uneven distribution of gifts.

Some people ask why we include the house parents in our Christmas plans. I would like to share with you the sacrifice these people make on behalf of the children. The house parents are paid $30 per week plus room and board. They are expected to be available for work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These people are angels in disguise for these children whose lives are left in disarray from various issues. Once again, thank you for your help!
